Pale, hop-forward lager built on soft water and Saaz hops. The original, brewed in Plzeň in 1842, was the first beer most people had ever seen that was golden and clear.
The median is 5.0% ABV. Half of them fall between 4.8% and 5.2%. Measured on 270 of the 281; the rest carry no strength.
Most in one town: Copenhagen (15), Bergen (7), Lieshout (6).
Oldest with a sourced year: Cerveza Pilsen, 1866.
These are facts about this record, not about the world. They are counted from the beers on file, and the atlas is as deep as its sources, which cover modern craft brewing far more closely than anything else. A country at the top of this list is where the most examples have been recorded, which is not the same as where the most are brewed.
