Brewed to the Reinheitsgebot not because Namibian law requires it, but because the breweries founded under German colonial rule never stopped and the purity claim became the country's beer identity.
Originally limited beer to water, barley and hops. Yeast was not yet understood. Not a modern legal requirement for most beer sold in Germany, but still claimed as a mark of tradition.
